This new British run and approved Alentejo horse riding centre is perfect for you to enjoy a wonderful riding holiday in Portugal's rural heartlands. Rides out in the countryside are led by experienced guides who know the area well and have your safety in mind. Qualified instructors give lessons in classical dressage or jumping on well-schooled Lusitano or Portuguese Cruzada horses. Available all year round, holiday packages are tailored to your requirements to include lessons, rides out or a combination of both. The rides and walks take in some interesting archaeological sites, springtime flowers and beautiful scenery from the rolling hills that surround us and the miles of tracks and land available to ride on.
The centre is near the market town of Ourique in the Baixo Alentejo only 45 minutes from Central Algarve, we have horses suitable for all levels of rider, bicycles for hire and lovely cottage accommodation on site.
Alentejo Horse Riding Lessons
Available to all level of rider on a good variety of well schooled horses from beginner to advanced. Lessons give you the chance to improve on your current knowledge and gain the maximum riding experience from your holiday. The Alentejo horse riding centre offers lessons to children and adults in basic riding, classical dressage and jumping, given by experienced and qualified instructors. No matter what the weather is we have a 20m x 40m indoor school or a 50m x 70m international sized outdoor arena.
Improve Your Riding: Short Courses
A riding holiday is great fun and all courses are designed specifically to your requirements. Proprietor and Chief Instructor is BHSII qualified with an International Passport and Enlightened Equitation teacher Level 3 so you will receive good instruction and have the opportunity to learn in hand work, ride out and a huge variety of things. Video analysis is given so you can see how much you improve throughout your stay here.

Baixo Alentejo Horse and Pony Trekking and Hacking
Trekking for beginners and improvers in wonderful countryside. Look out for the storks and eagles and even occasionally vultures! A real adventure in the diverse landscape around our yard and a great way to enjoy an hour.
For more experienced riders where we can go out for as long as you like across country, through Eucalyptus woods and over streams. Local cafés make ideal short stops and we can also do a one-way ride out to a bakery or restaurant for lunch and then come back to the yard in our lorry.
More Baixo Alentejo Activities
This is a fantastic area for walking, cycling and bird watching. For those keen on water, we can arrange trips on the Rio Mira, rowing on Santa Clara Lake, day sailing in the Algarve, and we have a small swimming pool here for our clients use.
If you are interested in sightseeing there is the Mira doura in Ourique, archaeological ruins within 2 km of us, and plenty of quaint old villages with narrow streets and bags of character.
Baixo Alentejo Accommodation
We have a lovely cottage on site, fully equipped for your self-catering comfort. Sleeps 4 in 2 twin bedrooms both en-suite. Galley kitchen with dishwasher and sitting, dining room, terrace and private grounds and garden. An ideal spot for that quiet getaway.
If you prefer to be looked after, then there is a superb local English run B&B that we thoroughly recommend, within a 10 minute drive from us.
