Climbing in Portugal
Come climbing in Portugal – we have guides available! While not a world renowned climbing destination, Portugal actually has a great variety of climbing locations and experiences to choose between.
There are lots of interesting bouldering sites and sports crags throughout the country many of which are close to popular holiday destinations so can be easily be combined with family or sightseeing holidays. For example if you are staying in Lisbon then it is worth checking out the bouldering and sports crags at and close to Cascais, Sintra and Arrabida natural parks. While in the Algarve, the imposing Rocha da Pena offers around 70 routes to choose between and there are excellent crags for climbing and deep water soloing on the west coast near Sagres. The hills of Monchique are a great location for beginner and intermediate climbers with a good selection of boulders and we can arrange climbing lessons or trips here.
Heading further away from the tourist hot spots then you will find a wealth of interesting crags amidst the mountains of Peneda Geres. This is a fantastic chance to really get out in the wilds with challenging climbs, amazing views and all the tranquility and beauty of nature.
We offer climbing in Azores, Northern Portugal, Lisbon, Algarve and Madeira
