Drift Racing in Portugal
A fantastic new experience for car lovers and adrenalin fiends! When drift racing a driver intentionally oversteers causing a slide or drift in the rear wheels while maintaining vehicle control and a high exit speed. Sounds fun? Come and give it a go!
The following drift racing course is held in Maia in Northern Portugal and is aimed at drift beginners who'd like to get a feel for the sport -
please contact us for information on intermediate and advanced drift racing courses. Stag and hen parties and corporate groups welcome. You do not need a driving license to give it a go but you must be at least 150cm tall.
Drift Racing Level 1: The Drift Experience
An introductory course in drift racing, this course can be held on any date (subject to track availability) for groups of 6 people or more individuals can join a group session.
The course is essentially practical and is accompanied by professional instructors who will give an introduction to basic sports car driving techniques and also how to control the car in drift. There will be two cars and two instructors per group of 6-8 people.
There will be three exercises tackling the basic drift techniques such as:
drift slalom: focus on technique and position of hands on the wheel and control of the accelerator. There is a 10 minute demonstration in co-drive 90 minutes ffor the group to practise this.
linked donuts: focus on weight shift and car control. There is a 10 minute demonstration in co-drive then 50 minutes for the group to practise this.
power slide: focus on drift in power and increasing your speed. There is a 10 minute demonstration in co-drive then you get 7 goes per person at the power slide!
At the end of an initial demonstration lap by the instructors there will be 3 laps of the track to give you your first taste of track driving.
The drift experience course lasts approximately a half day and at the end of the course there is an evaluation of each student and a completion certificate. Drinks and snacks will be served. Level 2 and 3 courses are also available if you'd like to continue learning- please ask us for full details. Price per person for level 1 €229.
