photos from the Sintra bike tours
Discover the beauty and romance of Sintra with an exhilarating mountain bike ride through dense woodland, swooping past towering, granite boulders and ancient sites to the rugged coast below.
A favoured beauty spot for the ancient Romans, Arabs and generations of Portuguese royalty and aristocracy, Sintra is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and rich with history, culture and natural beauty. It is a must see if you are visiting Lisbon and the local area and we can provide transport from the capital.
On the journey the guide will tell you more about the town, it's history, palaces and castles and the plant and animal life in the surrounding Natural Park. Upon arrival in Sintra there will be a brief break for you to stroll around the old town then we'll head to Peninha high up in the Sintra hills for the start of the tour. As you ride along woodland, mountain and coastal ways the guide will point out interesting features of the landscape, flora and fauna and history. There will be the chance to stop for photos as there are spectacular views over the coast and countryside and to snack on a traditional Portuguese pastry.
The standard Sintra bike tour itself lasts approximately two and a half hours then we'll travel to the famous Guincho beach for lunch. After lunch there is free time to relax on the beach before we return to Lisbon. This is a full day trip and is designed for reasonably fit and active people.
We also offer a more hilly, offroad mountain bike tour designed for regular cyclists who appreciate more of a challenge! Please let us know if you prefer this option. The bike tours costs €70 per person including transfers (lunch is not included).
