Our Azores Jeep Safaris allow our visitors to get to know the islands from a different perspective! Enjoy plenty of adventure as we reveal the breathtaking views that are hidden within the islands.

We offer half and full day trips divided through Sete Cidades, Lagoa do Fogo and Nordeste.

Half Day Sete Cidade Jeep Safari – 40 euros pp

This 3h30min tour takes you through the rim of the caldera of Sete Cidades, passing points where you can have an awesome view over the green and  blue lakes. This tour includes a stop in Ferraria with the possibility to bathe in the ocean (in a natural swimming pool that is heated by a volcanic fissure) when the tide is low.

Half Day Lagoa do Fogo Jeep Safari – 40 euros pp

This wonderful 3h30min tour combines some off the road routes in both the highlands and flatlands, taking you to the amazing natural reserve of Lagoa do Fogo to enjoy nature at its best. Astonishing views from the top of the crater’s border are a must to photograph! We then drive you to Caldeira Velha, a warm iron-rich waterfall where you can go for a dip to experience its warm waters.

Full Day Sete Cidades Jeep Safari – 70 euros pp

This 7h30min tour takes you across the rim of the caldera of Sete Cidades, where you can enjoythe awesome view over the green and the blue lakes. Lagoa das Empadadas, Lagoa de Santiago, Ponta do Escalvado and Mosteiros are other places in the region that you will visit. The tour includes a stop in Ferraria, where you will have the possibility to bathe in a natural swimming pool in the ocean that is heated inside a volcanic fissure when the tide is low.

Full Day Lagoa do Fogo Jeep Safari – 70 euros pp

This wonderful 7h30min tour combines some off the road routes in both the highlands and flatlands, taking you to the amazing natural reserve of Lagoa do Fogo to enjoy nature at its best. Astonishing views from the top of the crater’s border are a must to photograph! We then drive you to Caldeira Velha, a warm iron-rich waterfall where you can go for a dip to experience its warm waters. Our tour also includes a very nice drive off the beaten track along the north coast of São Miguel island, with very beautiful views along the way. The tour finishes with a visit to a pineapple plantation. Did you know that a pineapple grown in a greenhouse takes 2 years to mature before ending up on your table?

Full Day Nordeste Jeep Safari – 75 euros pp

Located in the eastern-most part of the island, Nordeste is considered to be the most beautiful region in the island and it has already been considered to be the most flower-rich region in Europe. Our first stop is well worth it as we stop at the viewpoint of Salto do Cavalo’s peak. This viewpoint is marked by astonishing and wide views over Povoação, the first place to be settled in the island, and the coast that extends beyond Povoação. We continue our trip to the Priolo (Azores Bullfinch) Environmental Center to visit the interactive exposition that fills the visitor with interesting knowledge about the area of Serra da Tronqueira, its fauna and flora, and more specifically about the Priolo bird (Pyrrhula murina) which is endemic to São Miguel Island in the Azores. Next to the center we can also visit the Endemic Species Garden. Finally we go down to the town of Nordeste where we have lunch in a local restaurant. On the way back to Ponta Delgada we will stop at wonderful viewpoints along the coast and at Povoação.

5 Senses Full Day Jeep Safari – 80 euros pp

Pick up from your hotel is at 9am. Transfer to Sete Cidades by jeep. On the way to Sete Cidades we take several off road tracks of which some are used by local farmers. These roads pass by several spots that are only accesible by 4×4 and should not be missed as they contain some outstanding views over the coast and parts of São Miguel Island. Included are stops in Pico do Carvão, Empadadas lakes, and Vista do Rei (the famous King’s viewpoint). After this adventurous and fun ride we reach the lake at the bottom of Sete Cidades crater. Here we have a picnic lunch along the mystic lake shore where you have time to relax and be amazed by the surrounding scenery. After lunch we emerge in an activity “back to the past”. We also bake fresh bread and biscuits, milk a cow, plough the earth and participate in traditional activities and games. This is a fun-filled day that is perfect for anybody wanting to connect with nature and the island’s local traditions. Drop off at your hotel is around 6pm.

Small kebabs of local blood sausage and pineapple, bolo lêvedo (a traditional bread made in Furnas), sandwiches with cheese from São Jorge Island, small sandwiches of homebaked bread with tuna, chicken pies, cod cakes, a tray of local spicy sausage, sliced fresh fruit, red bean cupcakes, coconut cupcakes and almond cupcakes.

Drinks:

Local passionfruit softdrink (Kima), still water, local beer (Especial), white wine from Pico Island, coffee, tea from São Miguel Island and milk.

Combined Sete Cidades Jeep Safari and Whale/Dolphin Watching Tour – 85 euros pp

During this activity you will have the opportunity to watch some of more than 25 cetacean species that can be found in the Azores. Although nature offers no guarantees, whales and dolphins are regularly seen during our full day tours, along with turtles, seabirds and other marine life. Before the boat trip one of our biologists give you a briefing to explain which cetacean species can be observed, safety measures aboard, how we respect the animals and rules of observation at sea as well as some historical facts. During the tour each passenger is required to wear a life vest (except on our catamaran). Futurismo also provides rain coats and trousers if necessary. Lunch is in a local restaurant. After lunch we depart on our jeep tour. This tour takes you around the rim of the caldera of Sete Cidades, where you can have an awesome view over the green and the blue lakes. After leaving the crater of Sete Cidades we stop off in Ferraria where, if the tide is low, you have the possibility to bathe in a natural swimming pool that is heated inside a volcanic fissure.
