Birdwatching!

The Azores islands receives close to 400 American and European birds! In other words, this is the perfect destination for avid birdwatchers. More than 33 species nest in the Azores! Many of which are endemic subspecies, therefore they cannot be found anywhere else in the world!

On our full day bird watching tour, you explore some of the different bird watching sites of São Miguel Island. You’ll discover some of the 33 species of birds that nest in the Azores. One of the highlights of bird watching in São Miguel is the chance to spot one of the rarest birds in Europe: the Azores bullfinch (Pyrrhula murina), which can only be found in the Laurissilva forest on the eastern part of São Miguel Island.
