If you are looking for the perfect bike holiday package, but are on a budget, this section is for you! We offer amazing cycling holidays in the Alentejo at affordable rates, and not letting you miss out on a thing!

This tour is available as a guided or self-guided tour and you can choose between a 3,
4 or 7 night holiday. Located in a pastoral paradise where you will find everything you
need for complete relaxation, our guest house is a genuine Monte, a traditional
Alentejan farm, spacious, comfortable and thoroughly welcoming. There is an orchard,
an organic vegetable garden, pasture where sheep graze and an ancient olive grove,
where huge cork oaks and holm oaks grow among big granite boulders. Along its
pathways, you will find beautiful flowers blossoming among the rocks that make you
feel like staying to indulge in conversation, to observe the birds or simply to let your
thoughts wander.

Depending on the length of your holiday you could ride all or some of the routes below.
If you choose a 3 night holiday this will be route 1 and 2 unless otherwise arranged.

Route 1: Megalithic Monuments – The trail goes through beautiful Holm oak forest and grazing land. You will see cattle and sheep, and in season you may see calves/lambs. You will visit the Dolmen of Zambugeiro – the biggest in Europe, the Cromelech of Almendres, probably the oldest megalithic monument in Europe and with a beautiful view over Évora, the Menhir of Almendres, the Church of Mitra and the Roman Ruins of Nossa Srª da Tourega. A rich morning with plenty to see along the way! In the afternoon we cycle in the city of Évora and discover the amazing history of this beautiful city. We visit the surreal bone’s chapel and the impressive cathedral, originally from the 13th century. We finish with a wine tasting in the Évora Wine tour shop.

Route 2: The Famous Carpets – Cycling from the farm to Arraiolos and back to the farm.
We take the eco trail, a green lane built on top of an old railway. We ride along it through small farms, eventually reaching Graça do Divor, a beautiful white and blue village very well preserved. Good place to stop for a drink and try the delicious meat pies of Mrs Ilda! On the way we’ll visit the Aldeia da Terra a giant clay representation of the traditional Portuguese way of life. From here we’ll ride to the Arraiolos village, with its beautiful historical centre, the famous carpets and the delicious Pastéis de Toucinho. The views from this castle are unforgettable. It’s now time to visit a winery if desired where there is also a fantastic private collection of carriages and, a few kms later, a cheese farm where they also produce local liqueurs. Delicious! If you want to do a tasting of their produce, there is an additional charge per person.

These last two are medium difficulty options and make for a long day including the
visits

Route 3: Conquest of Valongo Castle – We will start on a road with plenty of olive groves, gently going up and down until Nossa Senhora de Machede. We will visit a traditional leather factory and, during season (October/November), an olive oil mill. Out of season we may be able to arrange it for you, any way (subject to availability). We then follow to Valongo to visit the outside of its surreal castle built in the middle of nowhere. From here we invite you to discover the country side at its best, following a dirt road until the gorgeous Moinho do Alcaide (a water mill) and then following along the river side passing by several mills until we reach the main road. We can visit a winery in the end of the tour.

Route 4: The Mediaeval village – Monsaraz area is very unique. The schist rock marks the landscape and the architecture, and the vines seem to grow almost everywhere! We will visit several megalithic monuments and the gorgeous village of Monsaraz, built in a castle on top of a hill. Framing the windows and doors you will see the schist rock, and the walls are so
white that sometimes you can’t look at them directly! We will have wonderful views over
the Alqueva lake (biggest artificial lake of Europe), which colours of blue the landscape
around the castle of Monsaraz. Another highlight is the famous pottery village of S. Pedro do Corval.

Route 5: The Wine and Cork route – We leave the farm cycling through the countryside in the direction of Igrejinha, a little white village where all houses have different coloured stripes giving a great painting look to the place. Here there is a very beautiful winery you can visit. From here cycle to the cork factory, which will surely be the highlight of the day. See how cork is transformed and learn about all you can do with it! Nearby there is a wonderful sanctuary with paintings covering all its walls, from floor till ceiling! From here ride to S. Miguel de Machede, another small country side village where you should stop for a drink at a local café. A visit to one of its many dolmens is a must!

Discover why the Alentejo is one of the best regions to cycle in Portugal!
The days are relaxing and easy. We do between 35 and 50km. Roads are mostly
undulating. This means that we rarely have big climbs, but go slightly up and down
several times. We mix some dirt roads with asphalt, but most of the tour is on asphalt.
The dirt roads give the tour a special link to nature.
We start in the small village of Alvito, very famous for its manueline architecture, and
from there cycle to Évora, impressive city classified by UNESCO as World Heritage
Site. In Évora we explore the megalithic monuments. We continue to Monsaraz, the
lovely white castled village with a panoramic view over the biggest artificial lake of
Europe, and cycle through Terena and its impressive sanctuary. The tour then goes to
Vila Viçosa, where we visit the famous Ducal Palace, and finishes in Estremoz, the city
of the «white gold» (marble).
